Tickled Pink were formed in 1989, making 2010/11 their 21st Birthday year. Originally as a ceilidh band, they were formed as the perfect antidote to the stiff-starchy Country-dance bands of the time. They set out to be a band that could play traditional english music that rocked, rather than just being another ‘Folk Rock’ Band. After a few line-up changes they finally hit the festival scene. Within a very short time they were one of the most sought after bands on the UK festival circuit.

They have appeared at almost every festival in the UK including Glastonbury, Sidmouth, Cropredy, Towersey and Chippenham. They also came second to Whapweasel in 2005 in the Best Dance Band category of the BBC Folk Awards.

 

The band has a very fine pedigree, with members also performing with many other bands and artists.

Featuring members of other bands such as Little Johnny England, The Rainbowchasers, Edward II and Jez Lowe’s Bad Pennies the Pinks are currently a much sought after band on the festival circuit. They were primarily an English Ceilidh band until six years ago when Mark Hutchinson joined. Having a membership with such a varied mix of musical tastes has influenced the sound of Tickled Pink. We combine Traditional English Music and song with many different musical styles: Rave, Reggae, Blues, Rap, Country etc etc etc …….whatever takes our fancy.
